A Quote A Day Keeps The Mind At Play

We hate to hit you kids with yet another quote, but we have a solid excuse. You see, H has been visiting E this week and amidst the double features, pedicures, Netflix marathons, sushi breaks and wine nights, we haven't had a moment to post! But stay tuned for fabulous reunion coverage. Until then, here's a quote to hold you over. Take note of the redwood tree backdrop, we grew up in these bad boys! Well near... although a treehouse sounds awful cool.

A Chat About Color

No. 1- There is something really exceptional about this color. It goes beautifully with every skin tone I've seen it on. It has become my go-to polish choice especially during the summer months.
No. 2- I have been very drawn toward plum colors recently. This color, Sole Mate, is my go to polish for my toes recently. No. 1, Go Ginza and Sole Mate compliment each other wonderfully. Although I never recommend matching nails and toes, having colors that compliment one another is one of my favorite things to do!
No. 3- Chanel's Rose Exuberant is the perfect girly pink. It has lots of shine, but no shimmer- so you feel classy and bright instead of like a prosti-tot.
No. 4- Another one of my all time favorites from Chanel is Blue Satin. It is edgy, and perfect for winter months.
No. 5- Fifth Avenue is the perfect red for fair skin tones. It's a bright red with some extra orange so it pops instead of washing out.
No. 6- No matter what you read on Pinterest, this is the best nude out there. It isn't "nude-orange", or "nude-pink", it is honest to god nude- for everyone who has Dracula in their family tree that is.

Happy Friday everyone!

To Spend or Not to Spend?

I love trying new products. How would we ever find our favorites if we never took a leap and tried something different? The downside to these beauty adventures comes when the product turns out to be less than we'd hoped... Not enough coverage. Disappearing acts. Cakey. Raccoon eyes. Dear God my face is orange. I look/smell like a prostitute. I've hit all these low points my friends. While there are some things I've decided are worthy of a slightly higher price tag, there is so much less risk when buying drugstore cosmetics. No guilt over dropping a paycheck on products you're displeased with. I know what you're thinking- return them! Right? If that's gonna happen for you, then kudos. Somehow I end up deciding how awful the product is when it's too late (and I'm too lazy) to return it.  Thankfully, I have found some fabulously adequate versions of at Target (tar-jeyy... I hope the kids are still saying that these days).

Here's my list of cheap and not so cheap thrills:
Picture

The Infrashine 1-inch ceramic straightener rocks. After a recommendation from a friend a few years back. I decided to upgrade from my cheapo version. It's still going strong almost four years later.

I love this Hot Tools curling iron. Aside from it being aesthetically pleasing with its lovely gold plate, it also works great. This is more of an in-between priced item. So worth the few extra bucks. I don't use the clamp, and it's rumored you can remove it. I'm not sure I'm handy enough to do so but you go girl if you can.

Covergirl NatureLuxe foundation was a great find. That damn T Swift commercial reeled me in, but I'm glad! It has decent coverage without feeling caked on, and dries somewhere right between dewy and matte.

Dry shampoo. Such a great invention. I have dry hair and can't wash it more than a few times a week, and sometimes a spritz of these help carry me through without looking like a hot oily mess. Both the Not Your Mother's and the Garnier are great options at a fraction of the price of their higher end cousins.

Chanel Coco Mademoiselle. I usually cannot justify spending so much on one beauty product, but I'm a firm believer in investing in something that will both last long and be used daily. Not to mention that once you find your signature scent, you can't just let it get away.

It has been more than awhile since we posted & we are officially back on the wagon. All summer we have been snapping photos, and crafting away- so there will be lots more to come shorty. We hope you've had a good Monday, and that the week only gets better from here on out!

1. This succulent initial is living gold. Succulents come in such a wonderful variety they are visual candy. In case you haven't had luck keeping succulents alive, this is a great article on what you should be doing.
2. Monogram EVERYTHING! Pillow cases, towels, and candles.
3. Any chance I get to add a splash of color to my house I take it. I love this shelf, and I have had my eye on it for awhile. It comes in a variety of colors, and since it's price tag packs a punch I have also been on the looks out for a shelf with a simple, but sturdy structure that I can DIY to looks similar.
4. Poppin is a great site that has a fabulous selection of colors and products. Office supply made beautiful. I will surely take it!
5. As if Toms could get any better... oh wait, they just did!
6. Tory Burch is my hero & she always makes me look just a little more chic. Most days I can really use the help. This messenger bag is divine!
7. I have been looking for a signet ring FOREVER. This one is too beautiful to pass up!
8. How chic is this blouse? It's low cut- so I picture it with fitted trousers, or cigarette pants.

Happy Monday everyone!

NYC NO. 1

Back on April 18th, I began my trip to the big apple. My first flight was a breeze. The plane was less than three quarters of the way full, and I got a little extra room since I was the only person in my row. I felt more lucky than an aspiring actress winning an Oscar over Meryl Streep... cough cough Jennifer Lawrence.

The second flight is where this story gets sticky. After I volunteered my window seat to a father and daughter, with the promise of a new seat & free drinks- I quickly found out I had nowhere to sit because someone had done a miscount of passengers. An extra person somehow snuck onto the plane and taken my new seat. Where did this leave me, you ask? In the 30 minute commotion that followed, I got to stand with all my bags at the front of the plane, on a sort of very small, very crowded impromptu stage. Everyone got some extremely awkward entertainment as I repeatedly shuffled my bags back and forth every time a pilot or flight attendant needed to get by. Finally when miss sneaky pants was found and asked to leave the plane, I got my seat, and we were off. Little did I know, I got the middle seat between two fellows with some interesting characteristics. Before we were even off the runway I found out that the gentleman to my left was an adult nose picker, and the man to my right was an awake snorer (this one got uncomfortable because I kept thinking he was asleep and looking at him- he probably thought I had a huge crush). Adult nose picker turned out to be a pretty cool guy, so I will pretend he was just getting a hard to reach itch.

The travel to the city was a big indication of how the trip would turn out- awesome but awkward.
