Chalk It Up

I frequently read an online magazine called Matchbook. In their last issue I came across this beauty, & had to DIY something similar. I already happened to have a globe at my house just waiting to be transformed into something fabulous!

I recently read an article about a new disorder, chalk-o-phelia. I clearly have this. Luckily I am not alone, and there are some really phenomenal ideas. Here are my three next projects top favorites: 1, 2, 3 (No. 3- HELLO Easter!).

I try and make my DIY projects as simple as possible, (que the laziness, anyone?) so all I used to accomplish the chalkboard globe was painters tape, chalkboard spray paint- this is THE best invention, craft paper, & of course, an old globe.

1. Tape the parts of the globe you don't want to get chalkboard paint on. For me this included the base, the stand, and the small disks at the top and bottom. (Along with wishing I could chalkboard mostly EVERYTHING in my house, I am a BIG fan of painters tape. I like the motto "more is better" when discussing painters tape.)
2. Put craft paper down to protect the area where you are going to paint.
3. PAINT! Don't put so much on that it will drip- because you will put more than one coat on.
4. Paint again. After a 20-30 minute wait, the first coat of paint should be dry enough put another.
5. Clean-up!
